A Day In Kakooge

Kakooge
We had a great day in Kakooge, about 30 miles north of Bombo. Pastor Patrick and Agnes are so involved and connected with their community it is awe inspiring. God is blessing our team and the students and teachers as they train on the importance of hand washing and hygiene to reduce the spread of illnesses while part of the team constructs “Tippy Taps” stations (for hand washing) near the latrines.
Jessica, Cassaundra, Jane and Don W. did an amazing job making the training fun and interactive. We even had a visit from Brian “the clown”. It was so much fun watching the children involved and laughing.

Oli Otiya, Greetings from Wobulenzi Uganda

photo

We had a great day at Wobulenzi Pentecostal Church and Wobulenzi Donela School. Again greeted in the usual Ugandan fashion, making us all feel like we are some sort of important people. We need to learn from them as they roll out the stops and make us the center point. We had and opportunity to visit the kids at Donela School during their class time. Wobulenzi is over crowded and lacking in space needs. With that said, they do an amazing job at teaching and training these children. Here in the picture are kids from the pre-school class reciting the alpha bet using the sounds and hand gestures from Zoo-Phonics. Thank you Char Wrighton from Zoo-Phonics. Zoo-Phonics has these kids reading in pre-school. Truly awesome. Don Herr Align Ministries www.alignministries.org FB: wwwfacebook.com/alignministries

Arrived Safely & First Day in Bombo

We all arrived safely and drove (6/22/14) from Entebbe to Kampala for lunch and yo pick up the Mavuno Kampala team. Another awesome addition to our team. From Kampala we drove to the Diocese a Guest House in Luweero. Sorry I do not have pictures to post; will post tomorrow.

Today (6/23/14) we spent the day at Bombo Pentecostal Church with the kids from Donela School and the Life Homes. As usual, we were welcomed in Bombo style with kids singing the Ugandan National Anthem followed with America The Beautiful. The team then visited Donela classrooms and had an opportunity to share with the students. Then while part of the team went to the Life Homes to love on and share with the kids, the “guys” constructed “Tippy Taps” (need a picture, sorry will post one later”) to help with the hygiene of e students. Several team members taught a Train-The-Trainer class to the teachers so they can teach the children.
While all of this is going on the team at the Life Home helped gone children do some drawings and hang pictures to brighten up the homes. We even had a clown visit and played games.

A very eventful and fun day, we had an opportunity to reflect on he day after dinner at the guest house ,,, an amazing day for sure. Excited to see what is in store for us tomorrow. Good Night, pictures tomorrow.

Leaving for Uganda and We a Covet Your Prayers

We are leaving Friday, June 20th for Bombo.
We have an awesome team and are excited to see Pastor Alex and Millie and the entire Bombo crew. We are “planning” on making regular posts here, barring no electricity or internet interruptions. So please follow us and pray for us and with us as we see how God will use us in the lives of the families in Bombo and beyond. Also pray as He uses “them” to radically transform our lives; He always does. We do not want to come home the same.
